i worked this out from the album recording (i've never heard m.l.
gore's live acoustic rendition).

play each chord until the next one is indicated (ie, that big chunk of
the song that just rides on "d minor," but the first instance is on
the above line). i tried to put the chords on beat with the sung
syllables. lower-case letters are minor chords, and upper-case letters
are major.

i use the familiar set of open chords (the song just happens to be in
the key of "a minor"). the one chord you might not know is "a 
diminished" (i notate it in ascii with "a dim"). here it is:
